Balancer
An open-source, AI-assisted tool intended to help clinicians research bipolar medication options.

The problem
Clinicians treating bipolar disorder navigate complex medication decisions with limited tooling. Open, transparent decision-support is rare in mental health.
My role
Co-lead of a Code for Philly volunteer team. Managed product direction, UX research and design, and partnerships with clinical advisors.
Key lessons & thoughts
- Shipping small increments and getting fast feedback keeps target users engaged.
- The landscape of provider tools expanded faster than we could keep up in terms of the features we were able to crank out.
- Providers tend to stick to the same three medications that they are personally comfortable with, and those three vary from provider to provider. This is a major concern in the field.
